M. R. James: Rats

One of my favorite ghost stories, by one of my favorite ghost story writers. As usual, James leaves a lot to the imagination when he describes the Thing that haunts this story; but his sketchy description worked so well on my imagination that for years I had to brace myself before re-reading it.

I apologize for the worst attempt at a Suffolk accent you’re ever likely to hear. Sorry.
